First Practice, then preach Hearing about his fame once a woman took her son to Saint Tukaram. she told Tukaram Maharaj "my son its lot of jaggery. Please advise him something." Tukaram Maharaj said,"Mother! come and meet me after fifteen days." The woman went home satisfied thinking that the Saint will give some magical talisman and her son will surely stop eating jaggery. When after fifteen days she again went and met Tukaram he smiled and said. "son! it's is harmful to eat lot of jaggery. so henceforth eat jaggery with moderation!". Hearing this advice the woman became furious in a feet of rage she asked Tukaram, "if this was your advice could you not have given it 15 days earlier?" Tukaram Maharaj smiled and said calmly, "Mother! I had no right to tell this fifteen days ago as I was eating jaggery myself at that time. Therefore, I totally gave up eating jaggery, and now I have earned some right to advise him like that!" Moral - Without personally doing a particular thing, no one gets a right to say anything about it.
