Words are divided according to their positions and usages in a sentence.This is called parts of speech. They are eight in number
1) The Noun
2) The Adjective
3) The Pronoun
4) The Verb
5) The Adverb
6) The Preposition
7) The Conjunction
8) The Interjection
1) The Noun:- The name of a person, place or thing is called a noun. The noun is a naming word.
eg. Gopal, Yawal, Class, book, player etc.
2) The Adjective:- An Adjective is a word that qualifies a noun. It is something 'added to' the noun.
eg. white chalk, Clever boy, beautiful flower
3) The Pronoun:- A Pronoun is a word which is used in the place of a noun.
eg. Meena studies in std. X . She is very clever.
4) The Verb:- The verb is a word that denotes an action.
eg. He reads a book. She eats a mango.
5) The Adverb:- An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb.
eg. He ran fast. He drank very hot coffee.
6) The Preposition:- The Preposition is a word used with a noun or a pronoun to show their relation with something else.
eg. She goes to school. Aravind is in the garden.
7) The Conjunction:- Conjunctions are words used to connect words, phrases, clauses or sentences.
eg. Read and write. She is beautiful but extravagant. The book was open but she was sleeping.
8) The Interjection:- An Iinterjection is a word or sound used to express sudden feelings or emotions.
eg. Hurrah! we have won. oh!, ouch!, Hello!, wow!, etc.
