The Mongoose and the Farmer's Wife

Once there lived a farmer with his wife and their baby in a small house of a village. They had a pet mongoose. One day, when the farmer was out on chores, his wife decided to go out to fetch a pot of water. So, she asked the mongoose to take care of the baby lying in the cradle in the room. 12th English Batch is going to start soon, PREM ENGLISH ACADEMY,YAWAL 320x50_1 IFRAME SYNC While the mongoose was guarding the baby,it saw a snake crawling into the house. it soon pounced upon the snake and killed it. After some time, the Farmer's wife returned. As soon as she entered with the pot of water, the mongoose happily welcomed her with blood all over its mouth.The farmers wife was terrified at the sight and assumed that the mongoose had killed their baby.In a fit of fury, she dropped the pot of water onto the mongoose. Then, she rushed into the room to see what happened to the baby.She was surprised to find a dead snake lying on the floor and the baby playing happily in the cradle. She could conclude that the mongoose had saved the baby's life by doing away with the snake. Realising the mistake she came out of the room only to find the mongoose dead on the floor. She cried out loud at her unmindful action. Moral:- Do not act in haste without understanding the situation. (gtag.js) -->
